 In addition to these contrastingly natural areas, ancient heritages are spread all over this region for sightseers and history lovers. Traces of human settlements dating back to times as earlier as the Paleolithic age are found here near Karain, Belbasi and Beldibi in Antalya. Termessos, Perge and Aspendos, which are the cities of ancient Pamphylia, offer many treasures of the past with monuments from the oldest civilizations.
   
 Because of the archaeological and natural riches of the area, Antalya is also known as the Turkish Riviera.
