Wine farm in the Upper Monferrato IFIPIE10

Introduction

Important wine farm composed by two farms which work together on a land surface of about 52 ha, (one farm is of 42 ha, and the other of 10) those stretch on three hills of the Upper Monferrato near the Upper Langa. About 31 ha of land are cultivated with new vineyards that produce Moscato d’Asti DOCG, Brachetto d’Acqui DOCG, Dolcetto d’Acqui, Barbera d’Asti wines, with two new registered trademarks. On the remaining part of land, that includes three little lakes of spring waters, the farm has the provincial permissions for the breeding of wild animals as: hares, grey partridges, red partridges, pheasants, mallards, wild ducks. There are two rural buildings in the property.

Position

The property is located in the Upper Monferrato, near the Upper Langa. The “Langhe” are hills with a mean altitude of 500 m on the sea level, made from the erosive effect of the waterways, which transported rocky sediments from the mountain to the valley. In these areas, the ground is predominantly calcareous and sandy, and for these reasons it is suitable for the cultivation of the vines. The climate of Piedmont has continental features with warm summers and severe winters. In the entire region, there are high thermal ranges. 52,000 ha of land are planted with vines and they produce about 3,5 mil hl of wine.

Buildings

700 smq rural building of 19th century (included in the farm of 42ha., at present house of the owners), divided on three levels composed like that: ground floor: cellar, two rooms used as storeroom, kitchen, living room plus independent house of the farmer which comprises: kitchen, living room, one bedroom and one bathroom. On the first floor we find six bedrooms and two bathrooms, on the second floor there are numerous rooms to renovate. Next to this building there is a 120 smq stable. More recent rural building of 300 smq (comprised in the farm of 10 ha., not used since years), divided on two levels composed like that: on the ground floor: cellar, warehouses and reserves plus two kitchens and two small dining rooms, on the first floor six bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Finishing

It is going to be approved, a project which allows the building of a 150 smq shed, independent from the other buildings already existing. All the property is almost completely enclosed and has all the plants (for the water, there are more wells for the spring water). The machinery equipment is in excellent conditions and allows the activity of the farm also for a grape harvest with the machinery.
