The Estate Consalvo is situated south of Pisa (Tuscany), on the Metal Hills in the northern part of Maremma. The total area is 284 hectares (700 acres) The sea and famous seaside resorts like Punta Ala, Follonica, S.Vincenzo, Donoratico, Baratti gulf, are about 20 Km away. Consalvo is between two rivers: Cornia and Massera. The hilly area of the estate is partly covered with mediterranean woods, here there are also the best areas for vineyards. In fact the mild climate is perfect for vineyards: the whole area of Val di Cornia has obtained the mark "Controlled Denomination of Origin" (D.O.C.) for the wine produced here. The flat lands of the estate stretch between the hill and the rivers. The name of the estate "Consalvo" is that of its ancient owner, a Spanish general Consalvo da Cordova, who fought and won battles for the King of Spain Ferdinando II at the end of the fifteenth century (1494-1504). Now the estate Consalvo belongs to Bertucci family through "TENUTA CONSALVO" Society. Consalvo is an Agritouristic and Hunting Estate, ideal to hunt the wild boar and various species of birds. The estate is in the Monteverdi municipality area. The Development Planning Scheme provides for the possibility to create a Golf Club of 36 holes and a residential area in Tenuta Consalvo. In the estate, at the confluence of the two rivers (Cornia, Massera) there is the possibility to exploit a rich gravel bed. On the flat lands of Consalvo - along the river Cornia - there is a 1000 m. long grassy airstrip. Aircafts of more than 6000 kg. can land there. Besides the hangar can hold 2 aircrafts. Consalvo Farm: In the midle of the estate, up to the hil, takes his name from the first owner of the estate, the spanish general. It is made up of two buildings. The former, a two-storey building, has an area of 450 square metres, the latter, a one-storey building, is 110 s.m.. S.Angelo Mill (del Balzone): is situated near the confluence of the two rivers - Cornia and Massera. It is made up of two separate two-storey buildings: the mill, that is 200 square metres building and in front of it another 110 s.m. building. There is an interesting project to restore the whole mill with the original grindstones. S.Zoe Farm: on the ridge of the hill, with a great view of the two valleys. The farm is 600 square metres plus 40 s.m. barns. It needs restoring. Hangar: for two aircrafts (150 square metres). House in the wood: a ruin between S. Luigi Farm and the hangar of the Airstrip.
