N500018 The “Lo Carrero” Estate is nowadays a property exclusively dedicated to nature and hunting, not used before for any other purpose. It is situated in the heart of “The Salinas Mountains”, a famous spot in the province of Alicante because of its ecological and countryside interest.
As mentioned before as being exclusively for the aforementioned usage, the minimum intervention which its actual owner has carried out has always aimed to improve the natural habitat of its flora and fauna. The principal access to the “Lo Carrero” estate is an asphalt road, whilst the roads on the estate are unmade, keeping its impact on the countryside to a minimum.
All the interior accesses are of private use, since they born and dies within the property. It is possible to fence all the estate.
In accordance with the management policy, carried out over the last 15 years, small farming zones such as cereals have been created and approx. 1 hectare (approx.
2.5 acres) of olive-trees, as well as several water points distributed throughout the property, always searching for the life-improvement of the existing fauna.
There are plenty of positive factors which make this area unique, such as the tranquillity, absence of people even though it is relatively near to Yecla (15Km- approx. 9 miles) and Villena (15Km-approx.
9 miles), and even only 30 minutes by car from Alicante and 3 hours from Madrid. The range of the property is of some 260 hectares (approx.
640 acres). The existing fauna is one of the richest and varied within the Mediterranean ecological system.
The climate is typified by gentle winters (15-25 ºC –59ºF to 77ºF), and warm summers (July and August) 30 – 35ºC = 86ºF to 95ºF. Its average annual rainfall is 600 litres per square metre (approx.
109 gallons per square feet). The altitude of the property varies between 500 m (approx.
1600 feet) and 1000 m (approx. 3200 feet) above sea-level.
Nowadays the fauna is composed of a high density of wild boar, a medium density of partridge, rabbits, hare, turtledove, and also existing woodcock. There is an abundance of other fauna, but it is not suitable for hunting.
The flora is also very varied and is composed of mostly pines, evergreen oak, strawberry trees and an infinite number of aromatic herbs, such as rosemary and thyme.
