 The endless sandy beaches of the Atlantic coast offer the possibility for swimming from Easter until October, and bring a lot of people to the beaches to sail.  In the interior there are the enormous forests and agricultural effective areas.

 Today these stone pine forests are the home of kilometer-long bicqle tracks.   The Lac d'Hourtin - the biggest inland lake in France - offers safe swimming enjoyment with its shallow beaches.

 Farther east is  part of Medoc which is world-reknowned, its wine-growing areas.  Here the best red wine is produced in the old tradition.

At present for water sportsman there is another attraction.  In March, 2002, construction work began on the PORT-MEDOC - a yacht harbour with 800 couchettes.

Restaurant tip: " LE CAPRICE ", the smallest restaurant in the Medoc - famous for its lamb and fish dishes, also the duck breast is very highly recommended.
