The towns of Alcoceber and the resort Las Fuentes are both small and friendly. They are positioned 2 hours south of Barcelona and 1 hour north of Valencia. They nestle amongst orange and almond groves typical of this picturesque region of Costa del Azahar, and backed by a mountainous natural park of pine trees.  Alcocebre one of the last unspoilt areas of the mediterranean coast. Both have numerous excellent restaurants, plenty of shops and wonderful safe sandy beaches.

Alcossebre is backed by hills covered with pine trees and has superb sandy beaches in small bays which stretch south for miles along the Mediterranean coast.

The resort has a busy little harbour full of yachts and is large enough to have a good selection of shops, bars, restaurants and a water park without being over-run by high rise development and mass tourism.

To the north, a footpath follows the coast for about 15km all the way to Peniscola, an ancient fortress town, with a history going back to the Phoenicians. The castle at Peniscola, built by the Knights Templar, is famous for being the base of the heretic Pope, Papa Luna, in the 15th Century and was the setting for the final scenes of the film El Cid.
