This is a great house and a great place if you are looking for a non-touristic destination in a very attractive village in the Algarve. It's located at Barao de Sao Joao, just 7 km to the Northwest of Lagos, and right in the center of the village, just near the market.
Although everything is small, the house is high, providing a feeling of space. It allows room for two to three people. There are two rooms, double and single, bathroom, kitchen and living room (which is the entrance as well). There is no garden, but I usually use the street at the back of the house (which is not for cars) for the barbecue.
The house was renewed during 2001. New roof, new floor in the small room, new paint (inside & out). Basic things, like hot water, gas, furnace and refrigerator are in place. A telephone and TV line are available, but I never used it.
This is a comfortable house for rustic people. If you like luxury, don't buy it!

Barao de Sao Joao (BSJ) is at the southwest corner of Europe, near the cape Sao Vicente. You can choose between the wild west or the mild south, when going to the beach. You can choose between city (Lagos) and forest (the Mata Nacional starts right at the top of the village) or mountain (Serra de Monchique). You can also hang around for a day and go nowhere; then you should try the local tasca, or the Churrasqueira and of course the Bar do Ze Manel. After work time, BSJ is always a quiet place with a variety of tastes for different entertainment.
